CleanStart Dietary and Detoxifying Program

Every spring and fall I like to do a cleanse.  I have two that I rely on annually, one easy one and one deep cleanse.  This is the easy one.
The product is by Nature's Sunshine, and in the spirit of transparency, I have a membership with them that offers me product discounts in the stores and online. If you buy $40 worth of product you can have one too.

This is a general cleanse and works on the liver, lungs, skin and large intestine.  The cleanse is made up of 28 pouches of pills and 28 pouches of powdered mix.  You take one powder pack in the morning, mixed in water or juice and one packet of pills.  You repeat the process at night.  The cleanse takes 14 days.  The product contains natural herbal substances like:

  • Echinacea Root, thought to boost immunity by activating white blood cells
  • Buckthorn Bark and Fenugeek thought to relieve constipation
  • Capsicum (also known as cayenne pepper) thought helpful for stomach aches, cramping and gas.
  • Burdock root which is thought to clear the blood of toxins
  • Dandelion, thought helpful in reducing constipation, heartburn and edema.

There are a lot more, natural, herbal ingredients in the cleanse that will help flush out your system.  You should be prepared to go to the bathroom more than normal for the duration of the process.  For the best results I avoid caffeine, dairy products and meat (of course, as a vegetarian, I avoid meat all the time) which gives my system the best chance to respond to the ingredients of the cleanse.  You'll want to know that when I was a regular caffeine drinker, and would I have a mild headache for about three days. When I gave up caffeine and it was time to do the cleanse, I did not have the headache.

The packaging is a little excessive, but it's designed for convenience.  If the packaging bothers you, you can buy the ingredients separately in bottles.  There is no indication of social responsibility on the website but they do get credit in this area for using all natural ingredients that grow from the Earth.  My bonus points were awarded because it works and yet it is still gentle.  Sometimes, you don't want a cleanse to be too powerful, if you know what I mean.

My overall score was high at 28/40 and is.... Good Stuff!

Now, if only it could eliminate my desire for cheese.

Stay tuned for a review of the more powerful and effective (not gentle) Master Cleanse!  I promise not to attach photos.
